At the KULMUN meeting of the Security Council, held on 7 May 2015, in connection with the Council’s consideration of the item entitled “ISIL activities in Syria and Iraq”, the President of the Security Council made the following statement on behalf of the Council:
“The security council strongly condemns the barbaric terrorist attacks which took place on 7 march 2015, in Berlin and the beheading of the hostages in Libya and regards such acts, like any act of international terrorism, as a threat to international peace and security. We express our sincere condolences to the families and to the population and governments of Germany, France, New-Zealand and Spain.
“The Security council encourages further investigations conducted by Interpol, Europol and the German counter terrorism unit to identify the source of the ISIL jihadists who carried out the attacks in Berlin.
“The Security council urges all member States to work together in a unified manner to bring to justice to the extrimists, organizers and sponsors of these terrorist attacks and insist that those responsible for aiding, supporting or harbouring the extrimists, organizers and sponsors of these acts will be held accountable.”
